PCIe bus card for industrial measurement technology with electrical isolation

The ADIODA-PCIe22iso16 is a very powerful PCIe bus card with an isolated A/D converter for implementing complex controls and regulations. Its range of functions includes the recording of analog and digital signals up to special IRQ triggers and the automatic measurement of the period duration, as well as the switching of outputs via optocouplers including PWM outputs (pulse width modulated outputs). Due to the potential isolation, both for the analog inputs and the digital inputs and outputs, it is particularly suitable for industrial measurement technology.

Analog inputs with galvanic isolation

The multifunction card ADIODA-PCIe22iso16 has 16 single-ended inputs or 8 differential inputs, which are galvanically isolated from the computer's power supply. The electrical isolation of the analog inputs and the integrated overvoltage protection of +/- 65 volts make it ideal for analog measurements in industry. The 16 inputs have an input voltage range of +/- 10 volts and a maximum sampling rate of 20 kHz. The resolution depends on the sampling rate and is in the range of 12 to 22 bits. The conversion is triggered by the integrated timer or the software. The measured values ??are buffered in a FIFO designed for a maximum of 8192 measured values. The input resistance is greater than 1 MOhm.

Digital inputs via optocouplers, outputs via optocouplers

The PCIe bus card ADIODA-PCIe22iso16 offers 8 digital inputs and 8 digital outputs with galvanic isolation for each individual channel. The potential isolation of the inputs is provided by high-quality optocouplers, and the outputs by 8 powerful optocouplers. The input optocouplers are bipolar and the galvanic isolation of the optocouplers from each other means that the ground can be switched as desired for each input. The inputs are additionally protected against harmful voltage peaks by protective diodes. Two different voltage ranges for the input optocouplers can be set using easily pluggable jumpers. The optocouplers of the outputs can handle a switching current of a maximum of 150 mA.

Programmable filter

Each optocoupler input of the ADIODA-PCIe22iso16 has its own configurable digital filter to filter out interference or oscillations in the input signal. The filter checks whether an applied signal is present long enough. If this is not the case, a pulse that is too short, for example, is ignored. The minimum time that a signal change must be present at the respective input can be set from 0 - 65535µs in 1-µs increments.

Counter, period measurement, pulse duration measurementg

Two 32-bit counters and two input capture units (e.g. period measurement) are available, which can be connected to any optocoupler inputs via software.

PWM pulse width modulation

Each of the two additional OC units can be connected to an optocoupler output via software.

IRQ: Interrupt triggering by input, counter or IC unit

In order to detect changes to the optocoupler inputs without the PC regularly querying the inputs, the ADIODA-PCIe22iso16 offers several interrupt options. On the one hand, there is the possibility that the card triggers an interrupt on the PC when there is a rising edge on one of the inputs, or on the other hand, that it signals a general change to the inputs to the PC with an interrupt. In addition, interrupt triggering is possible by all counters and IC units as well as time-dependently by two 32-bit timers.

board identification - status display

The card also has a board identification jumper block to distinguish between several identical cards in the PC. To easily check the switching status of the inputs and outputs, each input optocoupler and output optocoupler is assigned an LED.

Connecting the analog inputs

The connections of the analog inputs are fed to the 68-pin SCSI socket mounted on the slot bracket of the board.

Connection of the input and output optocouplers

The digital inputs and the digital outputs are connected to the 40-pin pin connector on the board. Using an optionally available connector installation set, it is possible to install the cables on a 37-pin D-Sub socket with a slot plate.
