What is galvanic isolation?
The term galvanic isolation or potential isolation means avoiding lines between two circuits. An exchange of signals between the two circuits takes place via electrically non-conductive coupling elements. The potential separation is mainly used on PC cards to protect the computer and to avoid interference (current loops, ...).
PCI PC cards with galvanically seperated inputs and outputs
The wasco® PCI cards from the Messcomp® with galvanic isolation are suitable for all applications from laboratory operation to harsh industrial environments. The isolation between the input signals and the PC is ensured with these cards via optocouplers and relays in various designs, from sensitive input optocouplers to resilient output optocouplers, from signal relays to power relays. With various combinations of optocouplers and relays on the PC cards you can implement your control cost-effectively. The PC cards with PCI bus are increasingly being replaced by the PCI Express bus. Most of the wasco PCI bus cards are also available from us in pin-compatible versions as PCIe bus versions. For new developments, we recommend using PCIe bus cards from Messcomp® .
